Burstsearch.com is a search site that is promoted via Burst Search extension. This tandem is internationally recognized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and browser hijacker due to misleading behavior and lack of user's choice regarding the removal.
The Burst Search malware is spread via Chrome Web Store. However, it can also be found spreading bundled with freeware and that's the main reason why so many people complain about its stealthy installation. Right after the install, the extension injects itself into Chrome and sets burstsearch.com as a default start page and search engine. Such browser's alterations allow the hijacker to display sponsored content (links, ads, etc.).
However, this browser hijacker is more intrusive than others because it misuses the legitimate "Managed by your organization" feature. This feature is a legitimate policy introduced by Google to assist enterprise users, though unwanted third-party apps found a way to enable this feature to prevent removal. Consequently, people can't get rid of Burst Search hijacker without a complete system's reset.
